Opportunity for VNU’s high schoolers to accumulate certain bachelor’s credits and access career orientation programs
On April 17, 2024, in Hoa Lac, VNU held a conference on the High School Talent Incubation Program (VNU 12+).

VNU President Le Quan chaired the conference.

The High School Talent Incubation Program is to select talented VNU high school students to register for certain modules of selected VNU bachelor’s programs. The program is to be piloted from the 2024-2025 academic year firstly, for VNU high school students.

The cumulative learning of each student will be individualized with direct coaching by VNU’s internationally qualified lecturers. During the learning process, the student can participate in scientific research, practice and internship with the instructor or the instructor's research group.

According to VNU President Le Quan, in recent years, the task of discovering, fostering and training talents has always been paid special attention to by VNU and has been systematically implemented from high school to graduate levels. The recent model of training VNU high school excellent students is a pioneer in discovering, fostering and training talented people for the country.

VNU President Le Quan emphasized that changing the general gifted training model at VNU was very important. One of the innovative directions is to provide early career orientation for VNU's specialized high school students by advising and supporting them to accumulate a number of selected bachelor’s credits to enjoy priority in university admissions to bachelor’s degrees at VNU. The university transfer model of training talented high school students is being implemented in such advanced countries as the United States, Japan and South Korea.

This program is also the first step for excellent students to pursue basic science and foundational technology studies at home and abroad.

The VNU 12+ program is built to discover, attract, foster, train and provide early career guidance for VNU’s talented and potentially capable high school students with the goal of creating opportunities for them to participate in career-oriented programs and scientific research under the guidance of VNU’s prestigious scientists. This is the basis for creating VNU’s international standard scientific human resources in the coming period. Along with that, piloting an individualized talent training model through individual or small group (from 1-5 students) coaching by specialized scientists will be the basis for piloting a new training model with a focus on improving the quality of teaching and learning at VNU’s high schools .

Thanks to the early career orientation incorporated into the high school talent incubation program at VNU, the students under this program will have the opportunity to shorten their bachelor’s training duration as well as to access international scholarship programs and attain better success in bachelor’s study.

The VNU 12+ program also aims to attract good students to study at VNU’s high schools to create a source for training future international standard scientists, especially those in basic sciences, contributing to developing a team of international standard scientists at VNU.
